In my current NHS practice as a Consultant Systemic Psychotherapist and Systemic Training Portfolio Manager (my new title is Head of the Systemic and Mulit-Modal Training Portfolio), I am responsible for providing supervision, teaching and training of therapists at the Tavistock Centre, London.  Previously I delivered systemic psychotherapy in clinical services at the Tavistock.

I qualified as a social worker in 1989, on a Home Office-sponsored Masters course, and as a Probation Officer, worked in the Inner London Probation Service for ten years.  Following this I transferred from the Criminal Court system to the Family Court system (at the Royal Courts of Justice and Principal Registry), first as a Family Court Welfare Officer and latterly as a Children’s Guardian, sitting with and advising judges in intractable family law cases.

For 12 years I have provided clinical services in CAMHS, and supervision, teaching and training at the Tavistock Centre, London.

In my private practice I work with a comprehensive range of complex child, adolescent, adult, couple and family issues.

I teach and train psychotherapists, am a visiting lecturer, external examiner and accreditor for training courses in universities and colleges around the UK, and I present at workshops and training events.

I use effective conversations with clients to describe ‘what is’, and to create new understandings, so that these conversations become interventions, which in turn promote change.  Through this judicious questioning, I create opportunities for individuals, families, teams and organisations to bring a new perspective to their realities and their futures.

I am a fully-qualified EMDR therapist and a trained mindfulness teacher, and I have trained in non-violent resistance approaches. I work closely with similarly highly-qualified and experienced colleagues, as required, to provide my organisational clients with the very best training packages and consultancy services for their needs.
