I qualified as a social worker in 1989, on a Home Office-sponsored Masters course, and worked as a Probation Officer in the Inner London Probation Service for ten years.  I then transferred from the Criminal Court system to the Family Court system (at the Royal Courts of Justice and Principal Registry), first as a Family Court Welfare Officer and latterly as a Children’s Guardian, sitting with and advising judges in intractable family law cases.

In my last NHS role as Consultant Systemic Psychotherapist, I was the head of the Systemic and Multi-Modal Training Portfolio in the Directorate of Education and Training, for 6 years, at the Tavistock Centre, London. Before that, I provided clinical services in CAMHS, and supervision, teaching and training at the Tavistock Centre, London.

For decades I have worked with a comprehensive range of complex child, adolescent, adult, couple and family issues in my independent practice.

I continue to teach and train psychotherapists, am a visiting lecturer, external examiner and accreditor for training courses in universities and colleges around the UK, and I present at workshops and training events.

I use effective conversations with clients to describe ‘what is’, and to create new understandings, so that these conversations become interventions, which in turn promote change.  Through this judicious questioning, I create opportunities for individuals, families, teams and organisations to bring a new perspective to their realities and their futures.

I have trained as a mindfulness teacher, in EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing), and in many other therapeutic approaches. I work closely with similarly highly-qualified and experienced colleagues, as required, to provide my organisational clients with the very best training packages and consultancy services for their needs.
